Your responsibilities and tasks:

SUMMARY
The Product Manager is the Product owner of specific product line(s) within GEA’s North American Application Center for the Chemical Industry (APC Chemical NAM). This position has a primary focus on the GEA Spray Drying and Fluidized Bed Drying product lines.  Shall develop and maintain the product line(s) based on inputs from the market, sales, projects, and the global Product Technology Center (PTC). Will be the “go to expert” in NAM on daily business matters for the Product. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
  • Be responsible for development, standardization and maintenance of the product line(s) based on inputs from the market, experience during manufacturing and feedback from plant startups.
  • Shall have the daily contact with the PTC, and responsible for dual tech transfer, insuring the product line(s) has a long-term global appearance.
  • Responsible for correct technical descriptions and pricing in proposals.
  • Finding local vendors and workshops in coordination with the purchasing dept.  Where applicable, manage inventory, sourcing, and inspection of parts based on forecasts from sales taking price, delivery, inventory turnaround, and global fabrication with other GEA companies in mind. 
  • Must be able to organize and maintain standardized documentation.
  • Must be able to supervise designers used for development and maintenance documentation.
  • Must be able to work to deadlines.
  • Work on several tasks simultaneously, with short turnaround time. Planning and coordination of product line tasks and prioritization of tasks as required.
  • Shall follow the work procedures for the rest of the APC Chemical department.
  • Will visit customer together with salespeople, as our expert with the product line(s)
  • Involvement in orders/projects shall be kept at a feedback and troubleshooting level.
  • Provide backup support for other Product Managers as assigned.
  • Travel time: 4-12 weeks per year

  • BS or MS degree within discipline of Chemical, Mechanical, or similar process oriented degree.
  • Knowledge and practical experience within Mechanical Design, Process Design and Controls
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.
