Job Title             Senior Manager Packaging Molding - Seasonal / Gifting

Job Purpose/Overview
  • This role provides strategic direction and technical leadership for:
    • Innovation in Packaging in the area of Molding (Dove/Galaxy brand especially), Seasonal and Gifting across all chocolate brands globally.
    • The shaping and delivery of the 5 year innovation pipeline for packaging in molding, seasonal and gifting globally in partnership with key stakeholders inside and outside of R&D
    • The guardianship of packaging quality in molding, seasonal and gifting

Key Responsibilities
  • Leads and coaches the Molding, Seasonal & Gifting packaging development team, fueling the packaging  pipeline for those areas, from consumer, shopper, channel and customer insight generation and translation to technical solutions that are desirable, feasible & viable and drive penetration of all of our key brands.
  • Partners with Key Stakeholders, specifically the cross functional Category Business Unit (CBU) team for the creation of the innovation pipeline and the regional Packaging Development teams for deployment of innovation and governance of quality.
  • Connects and networks internally and externally, including with strategic suppliers, retail partners, internal supply network. Drives the Open Innovation agenda for the team. Shares best practice across the Global Packaging Community.
  • Accountable for identifying value leadership opportunities across the packaging portfolio working with the region from insights to implementation.
  • Contributes to the Packaging Sustainability Strategy with alignment with all the key Stakeholders (Global and Regional) and accountable for deployment within molding, seasonal and gifting.
  • Accountable for the global molding, seasonal and gifting packaging growth activities ensuring the necessary resource to meet the business growth targets globally
  • Represents R&D in relevant business forums and processes (linked to the global sales and business operations planning process, the relevant feeder meetings and the relevant R&D governance and technical forums).
  • Responsible for talent development, recruitment and succession planning across the Molding, Seasonal and Gifting packaging development team

Context and Scope
  • Lead a team of 5 responsible for Packaging Innovation across Molding, Seasonal and Gifting globally.
  • Oversees the total Innovation pipeline for this area and is a key partner for the global marketing, cross-R&D and supply teams to create the pipeline and ensure it is Desirable, Feasible and Viable. 
  • Understands, develops & resources the activities necessary to deliver the global business growth – much of which are significant innovation initiatives (priority launches for multiple markets across the world) and requiring partnership with global teams, regional teams and complex resourcing/ways of working.
  • The role represents R&D in specific global R&D forums and is part of the global Packaging Development leadership team and global packaging community.
  • Champions the culture change in the business increasing rhythm of innovation and champion the voice of packaging across the business.

Job Specifications/Qualifications
  • The position requires a BSc in in Packaging/Science/Engineering/Technology/Product Design or related subject area

Knowledge/Experience
  • Track record in developing Consumer and/or Customer Products or functional Packaging from concept through to commercialization in a CPG industry.
  • Experience in broad range of R&D leadership and an engaging leader of teams
  • Excellence in innovation and technology management with the ability to shape, lead and manage a diverse program of work
  • Experience across different areas of R&D (discovery, translation and sustain), specifically consumer, customer and shopper insight, sensory, concept development, packaging innovation and packaging development or implementation.
  • Scoping, development and leadership of new product and/or packaging platforms
  • Well connected to the outside Packaging world (e.g. suppliers, agencies, consultants, customers)
