POSITION PURPOSE:

This is a position for a R&E Project Scientist III within the KC Brazil Innovation Center R&E Consumer & Technical Insights - Science organization who will work on the Personal Care business sector field. At this position, the aforementioned Project Scientist III will be responsible for bringing technical / scientific answers to the questions raised by the R&E Community, inspire the R&E Community to have a scientific approach in their initiatives, nourish the Team Members with scientific demands from the R&E Community, and drive the relevant scientific information to the R&E organization. The person in this role will be working closely with members of the other CTi areas such as CTi Design and CTi Knowledge by fostering the Teams with scientific information that will be relevant to their Projects. Additionally will work close to the Portfolio and Technology Management area in order to establish partnerships with local Universities and Research Institutes.

KEY CUSTOMERS:

Regional business / R&E teams, with primary interactions within the R&E organization.  

SCOPE:

Candidates should be able to define the CTi Science Strategy in a short / medium / long term perspective in partnership with CTi Manager and in accordance to the LAO R&E Strategy, contribute to the budget management for the CTi Science according to the business plan, feed the R&E Teams – cross category – with scientific knowledge and relevant information, establish links between the scientific information and consumer relevance perspective, bring the answers to the R&E fundamental questions through scientific studies, experiments, partnerships, technical literature, open innovation or any other scientific source of information, develop and support disruptive communications of technical information in a “out-of-the-box” mindset – break of paradigms through scientific knowledge especially considering the R&E overall needs, understand the R&E needs in terms of fundamental questions from a scientific perspective, execute prioritization exercises to assure right-on-time deliverables, execute experiments, collect and treat data effectively, work closely to key partners in CTi Design and CTi Knowledge, show leadership behavior during the experiments / studies execution, being a protagonist in those activities.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 5+ years experience in Scientific Affairs. No experience in industry or corporate field is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Background in Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Pharmacy – PhD is recommended
Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Biomedicine, or any correlated field – to be assessed by the position Manager. Mastering or PhD is recommended.

  • Scientific mindset and intellectual curiosity are mandatory / experience in methodologies is a plus
LANGUAGE:
Fluent in English and Spanish as a 2nd or 1st language and with the ability to communicate effectively to regional sector leadership in a 2nd language
TRAVEL:
Ability to travel 5-20% of time
Encourage to consider temporary assignments for up to 3 months to develop career
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Derive insights and conclusions from activity and assess impact for KC Innovation Pipeline as well as for product and material development
  • Coordination of product tests to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach a multi-disciplined team to meet business objectives. Critical to this position is the ability to influence people at all organizational levels, drive decision-making and support the execution of complex projects on demanding timelines
  • Experience in in vitro / in vivo methodologies for materials / product performance
  • Scientific mindset and intellectual curiosity are mandatory
  • Strong examples of intellectual property / patents / invention disclosure are required
  • International experience is recommended
  • Understand the R&E needs in terms of fundamental questions from a scientific perspective
  • Execute prioritization exercises to assure right-on-time deliverables
  • Contribute effectively to the design of experiments in partnership with senior Leadership
  • Assure the Execution of experiments, collect and treat data effectively
  • Work closely to key partners in CTi Design and CTi Knowledge
  • Provide leadership by example as a team member on a large research & development group through leadership for evaluation processes and methods by carrying out assignments in a timely, diligent, safe and professional manner.
